New picture books for the new year!

It’s the start of a brand new year, and we have some beautifully brilliant brand new books to share with you. Check out our top picks for January below.

Animals with Tiny Cat

Let's make animal noises with Tiny Cat – the loveable feline from Viviane Schwarz.

From the ever original and wonderfully playful Viviane Schwarz comes a laugh-out-loud, theatrical first animal book for the very youngest of readers. Tiny Cat is playing dressing-up! She rolls up in a rug to become a snake – hiss! And with booties on her paws, she’s a horse – neigh! In fact, with oodles of imagination, Tiny Cat can be any animal she wants to be! But does Tiny Cat have what it takes to be a fearless lion? Find out in this inventive picture book with an abundance of visual humour!

Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes

Nothing is sweeter, as everyone knows, than tiny baby fingers and chubby baby toes!

Illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, this is a beautiful 10th anniversary board book edition of a picture book classic, and the perfect gift for a new arrival!

All over the world, babies are different. Yet in some ways they are very much the same: each one has ten little fingers and ten little toes – to play with, to tickle, to wave. And each child is very, very special to its parents…

Shake the Tree!

I am a minibombo book: a little book buzzing with a big idea.

It all begins with one tasty nut, hanging on the highest branch of a tree. A little Mouse looks at it longingly – she wants to eat it, so very much. But how can she get it down? By shaking the tree, of course! Can you, the reader, help her? Shake the tree – a little to the right (shake) … and a little to the left (shake shake). But – UH-OH – something else is falling from the tree, and it’s looking rather hungry…

The Poesy Ring

The poesy ring flew high, caught by the wind. And with the breeze in its tail, the horse turned and galloped. The ring tumbled end over end, and settled deep in a meadow over the sea...

From the multi-award winning Bob Graham comes a romantic, hopeful and exquisitely-illustrated story, perfect for giving as a gift to the one that you love. It's 1830 in County Kerry, Ireland, and a gold ring is thrown into the wind by a young woman on a black horse... And as the seasons pass, and then the years, the little treasure finds itself on the most astonishing journey.

Frog and Beaver

A charming ecological fable of community and friendship from award-winning author-illustrator Simon James.

Frog and his friends all live happily together on the river until Beaver comes along. Beaver is determined to build the biggest dam that anyone has ever seen, but it's so big that it stops all the water and Frog and his friends are forced to move. Frog tries to warn Beaver that his dam is too big, but he just won't listen...
